How to accelerate a mysql query on vb6? -

I have a table in MySQL with 6.000.000 records.

I am performing this query:

  CMD Choose COMMANDTEX = "from registro.cedcne where the trim (cDula) = '' & amp; trim (txtCedula.Text) &" 'border1' " 

The problem is that The query is very slow, I get the results in 15 minutes.

When I execute a query using PhpMyAdmin, I get less than 1 minute result.
