build - Maven Enhancing / Exploding war file -

I have created a Maven project where I have added the war files as dependency in my pom.xml

My impression is: I somehow It has to open the file of war and after that he has to add his new implementation and then he has to compile everything and then everything has to be re-written in the new war.

Is this right? Is it or not? How would I do this?
